Photo of the Week

View as we walked across the bridge from east to west.

The A-frame tower of Batman Bridge walking across from east to west

According to Wikipedia, Batman Bridge which was built between 1966 and 1968, was the first “… cable-stayed bridge in Australia and among the first such bridges in the world.”

Naturally so, and for no other reason other than that fact that we were there, we simply had to walk across it.  The wind was brutal, the pathway narrow, but walking across Batman Bridge was really something.  It was quite an experience, rather exhilarating and I’m very glad we did it.

  1. It’s a beautiful bridge. Last time we crossed it there was a man selling heavenly cherries from his farm on the side you took your photo from.
Many great memories of Tasmania! 😊

    1. Well Dayna,

Now I feel like we missed out on something special 😦 but I can’t complain too much, I did pick a dish load of wild blackberries yesterday. Not sure what I’ll do with them yet, there are still so many to ‘harvest’ that I think I might be able to pick enough for a small pot of jam – mmmm – blackberry jam.

      I just loved the bridge.

    1. Oh Rosemary,

Today my fingers are paying the price. I had no idea that the blackberry bush and its leaves were full of spines and thorns – cruel little things.

      Take care.
