Another Parmigiana at the Bayside Inn

Mexican This Time 🙂

Crumbed Chicken Breast Schnitzel topped with Salsa, Jalapeños, Virginian Ham, melted Mozzarella Cheese, Sour Cream and Guacamole.

Bayside Inn, St Helens

After enjoying our first $15 Chicken Parmigiana at the Bayside Inn almost a month ago, we couldn’t resist the temptation to return and try another.  Remember, Thursday Night is $15 Chicken Parmi Night and there are five varieties to choose from.

Once again, the Bayside Inn kitchen didn’t disappoint.  The parmigiana was terrific, even if I was a little ‘chicken’ per se, and asked for no jalapeño.

It is really hard for me to review this parmigiana without repeating exactly what I said last time, because, quite frankly, it’s the same meal, as expected, with a slight variation on the sauce.  So I’ve decided to review in brief.

If you’d like to know what I had to say first time, pop over to my original thoughts on the Hawaiian Parmi.

Chicken
The schnitzel was perfect in size, it was moist and tasty, with a crisp and crunchy crumb.

Rating: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 9.510

Sauce
The sauce was really good, with plenty of Mexican style punch and taste thanx to the sour cream and guacamole (despite my request for no jalapeño) and the right amount of cheese on top.

Rating: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 9.5 – 10

Extras
The salad was still ordinary, but again the chips were spot on.

Rating: 1 – 2 – 3 – 45 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 9 – 10 (because of the salad)

Rating Overall

I gave this Chicken Parmigiana 9/10 overall, 0.4 above the Hawaiian Parmi because this time the chicken was moist and the Mexican sauce was exceptional.  At one stage I said to Dean it was like eating Chicken Nachos without all the guilt associated with eating cheese smothered corn chips.

I still maintain that for $15, the Thursday night special is well above average and a treat you must have if you are ever in the vicinity of St Helens – and they still have the special of cause.

Another Added Bonus

While out for a drive last week, we ended up more than an hour away from St Helens at lunch time.  It wasn’t a planned drive otherwise we would have packed some sandwiches.

Anyway, it was lunch time and we were hungry so we called into The Sea Life Centre at Bicheno and ordered Crumbed Flake, with Chips and Salad for lunch.

It was the best fish and chips we’ve had since leaving Queensland.  The fish was fresh and tasty, the chips, slightly beer battered and the salad amazing.

The lady told me the fish had been caught that morning and I past my compliments onto the chef.

We were glad we decided to ordered one, it was more than enough for two to share.

I'd love to hear your thoughts ...
