Photo of the Week

This weeks Photo of the Week was taken Saturday
(May 16, 2015)

Dean and I upon arriving at Dove Lake.

Dean and I upon arriving at Dove Lake.

This is a ‘selfie’ (of sorts), taken with a camera, not a phone, and a quick happy snap, captured upon arriving at Dove Lake on Saturday afternoon.

With Cradle Mountain in the background, the grin on my face speaks volumes regarding how thrilled I was to be there.  It was 2:00 pm and with the last shuttle back to the Visitor Information Centre at 4:20 pm, we decided we could manage the two-hour walk around the lake.

In hindsight, the walk should be taken at a slower pace to really enjoy the area in all it’s splendour. Not that we ran around the lake, we certainly didn’t, but there were sections where we deliberately quickened our pace to ensure we returned before the shuttle departed.

Less that 24 hours later, the weather was not as pleasant. Sunday was bitterly cold and there was constant cloud cover over the mountain, obscuring the view and preventing such fabulous happy snaps.

See (Almost) Beyond Words for the photo taken on Saturday.

It’s wonderful that sometimes we find ourselves in the right place at the right time. It doesn’t happen often, but I am so very glad it did on Saturday.

Here is a link to another blogger, Barbara, who shared her Photo of the Week last week:

Zagreb at a new music festival – Thank you for sharing Barbara.

Enjoy

  1. Look at that blue water! I’m reading a book called Elemental by Amanda Curtin. It takes place over by Fremantle, and the character in the story is always talking about all the different blues in Australia. So it would appear! Nice shot, you guys.

    1. Hi Calen,

We were so blessed to be there at that time on Saturday. One of the locals told us that days with clear blue skies (at this time of the year anyway) are very few and far between.
