Just Me and the Moon

It’s 4:00 am and something reminds me it’s time to get out of bed.  I stumble across the room and quietly close the door to our walk-in-wardrobe.  Once inside, I turn on the light and get dressed, then turn the light off before opening the door and tiptoeing out of the bedroom.

I gently pull the door behind me and grab my camera and step outside.  It’s cold, I didn’t grab my jumper, but I don’t have time to think about that.  Up in the sky, towards the West, is my dear old friend and this morning there is a partial penumbral eclipse.

Three Years On

If you’d have asked me three years ago where I’d be today, I’m sure my answer then would have been vastly different to what I’m about to say now.

Three years ago today, August 2, 2014, was the day I became Footloose and Fancy Free.  The day I became de-shackled from the daily grind and free to do as I please, and no longer under any obligation to anyone who compensates me for my time, my talents and my technical skills.

Why I’m Typing Up My Recipes

A little over 36 years ago, I purchased a hard covered notebook.  A5 in size, it wasn’t anything special, or fancy, but it was somewhere I could write down recipes.

Some belonged to my mother, some belonged to her mother and other’s belonged to my father’s mother.  Some recipes were given to me by friends, other’s stolen from magazines in patient waiting rooms, the sound of paper tearing not quite discussed by coughing.

There are even recipes within its pages that are of my own creation, as some of you well know by now.
