The Pain of Telling Lies

What do you see when you look in the mirror?  Sometimes when I look beyond the obvious reflection, all I see are self-inflicted wounds.  Some are small, but others are deep lacerations, as painful today as the day they were dispensed.

When our girls were little, I was determined to tell them ‘the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth’ no matter what.

That’s right!  I was steadfast in my resolve that I would always answer their questions honestly.  No matter how much it hurt me to do so, no matter how much it hurt them to hear it, and no matter what the consequences.

A Step Into the Sandbox

“Getting to know me.  Getting to know all about me.”  Sounds like a line from a very old song.  Oh, hang on a minute, that’s not right.  The correct words are: “Getting to know YOU!  Getting to know all about YOU!  Getting to like you.  Getting to hope you like me.”  Aka – that wonderful song from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s, The King and I.

I’ll let you do the singing because this post is all about you getting to know me, allowing you to understand a little more about the crazy lady who owns this bog and, perhaps along the way, I might even learn a thing or two about myself.
